"I ended up sleeping on my bed squished between Jacob and Cyler. Warmth came off of them in waves, and it kept a thin sheen of sweat on my forehead, but I didn't dare complain. I felt safe near them and relished the contact they both gave me. How did this family become such a necessity to me?"

Wings of the Walker is about a little lady named Ash. It combines a dystopian world with Reverse Harem. These happen to be a few of my favorite things (fist bump if you catch that reference). Ash is a Walker-- Walkers being the low class in this world -borderline servants in this interesting world Coralee June has created.

A few things stood out to me with this novel. The first being it wasn't filled with a ton of fluff, I like when books are descriptive but I don't need the entire dictionary throw in with the plot. It kept my attention and had me eagerly trying to guess what came next. The second thing that stood out to me was it wasn't insta love or insta hate, without spoiling the plot I'll just say that I enjoy the way Coralee laid the groundwork and made the plot like realistic. I look forward to things heating up in the next book!

Wings of the Walker The Walker Series Book 1 eBook Coralee June Reviews

Holy Toledo CJ ... you have created an addict. I’m officially addicted to this series and they’ll try to make me go to rehab but I’ll say no no no.

First off, the world building. I was easily able to see the world that was created for this series. It kind of reminded me of West World meets The Walking Dead with a little sprinkle of a reverse harem slow burn. One of the images that stuck out for me was the one of the church that Ash sketches on the train. The details are so vivid and in that moment you get to see this vulnerable but caring side of Ash, she acknowledges the broken but also sees the beauty still within.

The characterization of all of the Dormas men is very well thought out. Sometimes with reverse harem stories the men can easily bleed into one another when there isn’t much distinct characteristics for one person. CJ was able to introduce all these complex men but also keep them as individuals and not mud them together. Cyrus is the leader who takes charge and can sometimes be abrasive when barreling into a problem. Mavericks is quite yet observant and able to command the room with little effort. Kemper is the shy one who is always trying to fix things and is there anytime anyone needs them. Jacob is sensual and gives off an air of confidence, but harbors insecurities that he tries to hide from the others. Patrick is fun and flirty, yet is the one who is constantly trying to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders while being the optimistic. Huxley is crass, abrasive, guarded, and will do anything to protect what’s his. All of them have something different to offer Ash and none of them can be mistaken for another, even the twins.

I admired the fact that Ash doesn’t immediately abandon her feelings for Josiah the minute she is around all of these heavenly men. She struggles balancing the life she’s always known to the new free life she has been given. Realistically she is going to struggle and make mistakes. She’s going to be confused. She’s going to question everything. BUT THIS IS REAL. Her struggles make her seem more real and allow you to connect to her on a deeper level. This is the first step in her story, she’s finally able to spread her wings to enjoy this new liberated life.

Slow burns can sometimes put me off, but this one burns oh so good. Like I said I’m an addict and I’m not ashamed. I’ve definitely found one of my new favorite series.
Sweet and wonderful story about a Young woman. The story is presented as in the future, when the world is divided in Provinces, that are ruled by and Emperie. People are divided in social classes, because of a devestating sickness that killed a lot of people, but more importantly divided people into those who could afford an incredibly expensive vaccine and those that couldn’t. The background works well but isn’t overly forced. The woman in the story works as a worker, or as its called in the story - a walker.

She is in love with her master, even if it is not allowed, and it gets complicated. She is offered to leave with a man from another province. A province that doesn’t have servants, and believes in free will and freedom.

Though the story is a bit end of the world style, I felt there was so much more depth. It’s more about the characters and their life development than about the world around them, though there are plots and twists that affects the people greatly. I liked the fact that I didn’t know where the story was going even though some details were more easy to guess.

I really liked the book, the way the main character developed and reacted, it felt quite realistic and sweet. I really liked the characters in the book. I like that she had spine, that she stood up to herself, even though she had a hard time getting used to being free of the servant life.

The story ends on a good note, no cliffhanger, but leaves you eager to read the next book, there is no clear ending in the book, but the story continues in the next book. No graphic scenes, at least in this book.
Wings of the Walker is a perfect combination of dystopian and rh (reverse harem). Both of which happen to be some of my favorite genres to read, so it was an easy one-click for me. In fact, I heard so much chatter online about how wonderful this book was that I one-clicked it based on that alone. So imagine my delight when I started reading this wonderfully written dystopian rh story. That being said, I don't always like to recap the story in my reviews, because I prefer to read my novels "blind" to get the full effect of any plot twists and keep the mystery alive.
The author does a fantastic job of creating this world without giving me too many words. It was the perfect balance of attention-grabbing and descriptive. I f'loved the way it wasn't instalove/instalust or slow burn! The story unfolds in a realistic, easy way - especially considering the dystopian world the author created. (That's not to say that I don't love instalove and slow burns, because I do! But it was an interesting take on the middle ground.) I highly recommend Wings of the Walker to anyone looking for a fantastic book! And I cannot wait until the next book comes out, because I simply need more!
